Visualist speaks with Norweigan fashion designer Ola G. Snippen about craftsmanship and colour

I have always dreamt of becoming a fashion designer. I’m currently studying art, design, and craftsmanship whilst establishing my own brand, sovesveis—roughly translated to "bed hair" in English.

I’m working on a collection of hand-knitted scarves for fall/winter. The idea is to combine functionality and beauty, whilst bringing colour to the timeless Scandi wardrobe.

For me, as a Norwegian, the scarf symbolizes warmth, hugs, and craftsmanship. It also reminds me of my mother, who works as a seamstress of Norwegian folk clothing.

A lot of traditional craftsmanship is fading, but my brand exists to keep those traditions alive and relevant.

As part of my collection, I’m collaborating with a weaver who will make two one-of-a-kind scarves from the colour palettes I put together. Colour is the essence of everything I do. Visualist makes it easy to collate colour combinations and see how they work together.

I use a mixture of photos, drawings, colours, and text to demonstrate my ideas so whenever I find inspiration, it is important for me to save it all in one space. Boards in Visualist mean I don’t have to spend time cleaning clutter before getting to work—the process feels more natural.

Visualist feels like having a table full of pictures, colours, and fabrics that I can mix and match freely—with the added benefit of not having to clean anything up after!

The idea behind sovesveis is that the details make the outfit—Visualist helps me keep track of every last one.
